Everest Mt. Pumari Trekking
Pumori, the stunning peak, lies in the upper Khumbu region of Nepal just eight kilometers west of Mt. Everest . Pumori, the pyramid of snow and rock is impressive in the way it dominates the western side of the Khumbu Valley . Known as Everest's daughter, Pumori's view into the Western Cwm of Everest is incredible. Pumori is the most popular mountain for those who whish to climb 7000m peaks in the Himalayas of Nepal. The easiest route is graded class 3 despite it is prone to avalanche. Pumori was first climbed in 1962 by a German – Swiss expedition.
For Pumori expedition the Base camp will be set up at 5300m. Climbing through the glaciers for approx. 4 hours takes you to Camp 1 at 5700m. From Camp 1, climbing of approx. 480m. on the face with 40-60 degrees slope and through a snow wall reaches camp 2 at 6200m. on a narrow ridge. From camp 2, approx. 450m. climbing through ice with 30-60 degrees slopes and passing through ice walls and crevasses will take you to camp 3 at an altitude of 6480m. . This section is prone to avalanches from big seracs hanging on the shoulder above. Passing through crevasses, and climbing up to Pumori cliff leads to the summit. For many mountaineers Pumori is the peak to check their technical skills and their feelings of climbing Himalayas in Nepal to prepare for 8000 meter peaks in Nepal for the future climbing.
